InterContinental Miami Hotel Joins the CardioReady® Network

The Latest in a Growing Number of Hotels Providing Advanced Cardiac Emergency Readiness

Atlanta, GA - April 4, 2007 - InterContinental's luxurious Miami property has joined the ranks of convention and meeting facilities which have earned the designation of CardioReady® Certified Meeting Space. CardioReady® Certification, developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association's guidelines and best practices, provides the foundation for an industry-wide standard and emergency cardiac care guidelines in the event of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

"The InterContinental Group's strategic priorities include making our hotels the first choice for guests and delivering consistently excellent customer experiences", noted Chris Stampe, Director of Sales & Marketing. "What better way to provide outstanding service than to invest in an ongoing program designed to help save the life of a guest, a visitor, or an employee in the event of a cardiac emergency?"

The StarCite supplier marketplace which includes starcite.com and mpoint.com, serves more than 300,000 meeting professionals from major corporations and independent planning agencies, identifies facilities which are CardioReady® Certified. This certification identification enables meeting professionals to identify and select facilities that have employed best practices for cardiac emergency programs.

"A response time of 3-5 minutes is critical in responding to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest occurrence, which can strike without warning regardless of age or perceived good health," commented Dr. Richard N. Edie, nationally renowned cardiothoracic surgeon and Chairman of the CardioReady® Medical Advisory Board. "By being CardioReady® Certified, InterContinental Miami has taken the necessary steps to dramatically increase the chance of SCA survival, and I can't think of a more important 'amenity' than that."

CardioReady® Certified facilities follow American Heart Association guidelines for protecting guests, attendees, and employees from Sudden Cardiac Arrest - a leading cause of death. Requirements for receiving certification include medical supervision, strategic placement of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the facility, trained staff, documented equipment testing and maintenance programs, coordination with local emergency response entities and compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
